Save Your Relationship From Ending
If you’ve ever experienced the end of a long term relationship, you’re already aware of how hard it can be. This is why it is easy to find a ton of information about how to fix your broken relationship.
Fix a Broken Relationship
Before you learn how to fix your broken relationship, try to decide if the relationship is actually worth fixing. If the relationship is so bad that the pain outweighs the pleasure, its possible that your relationship isn’t worth saving. If things are still worth saving, here are some tips to save your union.
Give Your Relationship Space
Anyone with experience in successfully fixing a broken relationship will speak the the fact that it is important to wait a while (a month or two) before attempting to fix things. Trying to call your ex to talk to them within a few days is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Save Your Relationship
The feeling of missing your ex can be a very hard feeling at times, but it is crucial to remember that they might be still angry with you and vice versa. While going through a painful breakup, time can seem like it slows down. Keep in mind that everyone will be calmer and happier with some time and perspective on what happened.
Prior to trying to talk through the problems, you both need time to think and calm down. The act of acting desperate or pleading with your ex can make your ex want to leave you even more.
It sounds selfish, but at the beginning of a breakup, focus on yourself and your needs, instead of your ex’s. Decide what you want and take the time to find out what your needs actually are. Do things to nurture yourself and cheer yourself up. Go see friends and reconnect. Don’t talk endlessly about your ex. Start/Keep exercising frequently. Try to get in really good physical condition. Take care of yourself and eat properly.
Here is another idea for how to fix your broken relationship. Invest the time to think about what the issues were in every area of the relationship and attempt to see your partner’s point of view. Ask yourself what problems added to the breakup and what both of you could have done differently.
Find out what made you happy with the relationship before things went wrong. Then determine what the pluses were as well as the minuses. You will know if the relationship is worth salvaging. While you are working through all of this try to move on as best you can. Try to do things to take care of yourself like socializing, buying new clothes, getting a haircut and going to the spa.
Start Talking with Your Ex
After a month or two has passed, then you might want to take some small steps to restore communication if you still want your ex back. Start by calling. If your ex answers and seems like they want to talk, try to arrange a neutral, public place to meet.
Once you get to the meeting, Attempt to express your feelings in a open way. Be lighthearted and engaging. Avoid expressing issues with bitter or harsh language. Never ever swear at your ex or yell. Even if your ex seems to blame you for everything, you must also be ready to hear what your ex has to say. You must be willing to not take what they say personally, even though it will likely seem very personal.
If you really want them in your life, all of these issues must be worked through. Listening to what your ex has to say is a crucial stepping stone in repairing the relationship. At first the communication may seem really confrontational and harsh, but if they still love you, they are likely to feel better once they get the problems out. Really hear them and wait to see if you can lighten up the interaction. You must be open to work on yourself for any relationship to be successful.
Remind yourself that repairing a broken romantic relationship is not easy and quick. As a matter of fact, it can be quite hard.
Your instinct might be to cling, but if you really want to repair your relationship, allow yourself and your partner lots of personal space. Then, once things have cooled off, initiate honest and open communication with your ex.
